Positive Thoughts

"She then feels me up as delicately as a middle school kid getting his first bit of tit."

Lola sure knows how to write funny and poignant stories. This one is no exception. Check out the story of her recent hospital visit and send her some positive thoughts.

Regina Spektor

I've been listening to Regina Spektor recently. Pretty Numbers recommended the Moscow-born, New York living songstress to me a while ago, but I never got around to listening to her until now. I really like her single Fidelity (with a nice video to boot) off her new (and first) major released record "Begin to Hope."

He sound is not only unique (she has been compared to Tori Amos and I can see how she is similar to Fiona Apple as well) but honest, playful, and endearing. Quite a rarity in music now. I also admire her for not writing autobiographical songs - not enough song writers use their imaginations. Here's another song from the new CD.

For Russian Readers

Большой секрет!! Best song to sing while taking a walk.

This is the Russian version of Winnie the Pooh.

Not Just For Mouth Anymore

I have admitted here before how lazy I can get. Something that I'm particularly lazy about is showering. Sure I like a nice hot shower - but it's actually getting into one that poses problems for me.
However, the clever and very clean Japanese have provided a cure for my laziness (okay maybe not a cure but at least some help!) They invented Fuwarinka, gum that makes your whole body smell nice. I can't wait to try this!

Heh: the site selling the gum has sold out of the men version.

Just Say "Oh"

Since high school I have used the same shampoo - Herbal Essences for Normal to Oily hair. I loved the smell, the texture of my hair after a good wash, and of course I loved the double entendre of the herbal essence "Organic Experience" commercials. Even the bottle itself was perfect; clear with a tinge of green herbs suggesting how serious these people took their "herbs!"(On a side note a former high school teacher of mine used to say "Let's make this an organic experience!" - wrong think to say to dirty minded tenth graders.)
I loved the commercials of "oohing" and "ahhing" women, filled with ecstasy as their gorgeous hands massaged their evermore gorgeous hair. The message was obvious: use this shampoo and you will have lots and lots of orgasms while still being a gorgeous sophisticated lady. As a horny high schooler how could I not fall for this? In my defense, the shampoo was pretty good at making my hair smooth, shiny, and incredibly delicious to smell.
Anyway, a while back I went shopping for some shampoo only to discover that my usual clear bottle of Herbal Essence had been replaced with this monstrosity:

I guess the stupid people at Herbal Essences decided that what women really wanted to be is ten year old girls. I'm predicting an advertisement tie in with My Little Pony to soon follow. Seriously, what self respecting woman would purchase shampoo bottles of hot pink, mango, and turquoise? Sure sometimes the wardrobe calls for splashes of color but not on my shampoo bottle! And what happened to advertising to sex starved female public?! - we want the hope of orgasms and even a hint of "naturalness" in our daily hygiene routine not super fun bubble gum flavors. Even the shape of the damn bottles irritates me. Give me back my "organic" feeling dammit.

So now I'm left with no shampoo. I guess this whole post was a way to ask for any good suggestions for a new shampoo? My hair is slightly frizzy, with a bit of curl but mostly straight.

Heh.

It's funny and true.

Sorry for being absent all this time. We had a tragedy in the family and I was helping out and was in no mood to write. It's funny when something dreadful happens, one expects the whole world to sit up and take notice. One is shocked when the world you remembered is exactly the same. The world keeps on spinning and moving as it always has and your are stopped in your tracks (I'm awesome at cliches). I guess that is the way it should be.

Hopeful, step by step my desire to write will come back and my laziness will be dealt with. What things make you happy?
