Easy - Quick Review
I've been meaning to watch Easy for a while now. I found something so attractive and inviting about the lead actress Marguerite Moreau. The film deals with twenty-five year of Jamie forever dating and attracting jerks. The film's focus is on a sort of love triangle that occurs when Jamie (finally) meets two non-asshole suitors. The movie does a good job of steering clear of the usual - whom will Jamie choose plot line. Instead, it's happy to explore Jamie herself in all her befuddlement. There is a lot of quirkiness about Jamie - her headset phone, her job as product namer, the erotic dream she has about Homer Simpson –and the film is happily bounces on them capturing the confusion of a twenty-something (love) life. I especially impressed with the sex scenes, which oddly felt authentic. They were less about turning the viewer on and more about striking a chord of familiarity. The sex scenes actually deepened the understanding of the characters instead of being the usual tantalizing plot point. However, the movie was far from perfect being a bit out focus and frazzled around the edges. Nevertheless, definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something better than the usual romantic comedy fare.
