Stupidest Thing I Heard On The Radio (Yesterday)

First of all let me preface this by saying, there are people in this world who love animals and then there are deranged people who love animals. I don't understand news organization or the public for that matter taking the later group seriously. So yesterday when I was listening to a BBC radio report about the rise in animal right terrorism (a group using intimidation tactics to put pressure on stock holders to sell their stock in a company who tests on animals) and (finally) a push back by the scientists (and other sane, reality based people); one of the "animal rights" group members being interviewed came up with this doozy:

"If a human or animal were stuck in a burning building, I would always save the animal first."

It seems that when your rights are secured and you live at a certain level of comfort, it is better to focus on "helpless" animals rather than to actually realize there is much more to be done in the "human world." No wonder so many celebrities are ardent about animal rights.
