Recent Pet Peeve

It seems like everyone and their grandmother is using "yes we can" variation in advertising. On the street this weekend I heard a guy soliciting donations for a homeless shelter by saying, "Yes we can make a difference, donate!" and it was a bit amusing seeing the(probably)largely liberal New York pedestrians ignoring to be the "the change" that our country needs. Advertising is full of "yes we cans" - I mean even George W. Bush used it in his Spanish campaign when running for Governor in Texas ("Si Se Puede") - the phrasing isn't even that original. I was seeing all over New York, which prompted me to ignore all the advertising that went along with it, because it annoyed me so much. So I can't really give concrete examples, except trust me there were plenty of them.
A more disturbing trend is the class warfare that is going in advertising. The Dominoes Pizza (which is the worst pizza on the planet) has an advertisement about bailing out "Main Street" and not the "Fat Cats" on Wall Street. It's pretty scary to see - "poor against the rich" scheme and I say that as a lower middle class person!
