Pet Peeve: How Shows Deal With Unwanted Pregnancy

It's the same g.d. thing every time: a woman has an unwanted pregnancy. She decided on an abortion. Then two things happen:

a) this is classic: she miscarries, cries for two minutes and then realizes that her life can resume with greater appreciation for not being pregnant anymore. (I'm looking at you Grey's Anatomy and Party of Five)

b) She goes to the clinic, decides she can't go through with it and has the baby (Hello Sex in the City). Oh, and the baby has this transforming quality that will save the woman's life from X sin/vice.

Both are cop-outs. If you want to portray a character who has an abortion then do so. If you want to emphasize how complex the issue is then do so. Don't try to appease both sides because people get irritated and turn the television off. Take a damn stance!

Can someone name a show in recent memory that portrayed a woman going through an actual abortion?
